Headline: Never out of second gear
I am not sure Arsenal really ever got going in this match. It felt disjointed at times and like things were just off. Passes were a bit sloppy, touches a bit heavy, the moves that did come off just missed turning into something.
It didn’t matter. Arsenal still scored 4 goals.
Arsenal went about attacking this match in an unusual way. They had a bit more of the possession at 58%, but they ceded territory here. Some of that was down to Bournemouth’s pressing but Arsenal were content to keep the ball in their own half a lot more than I have seen them this season.
In this match 55% of Arsenal’s passes came in their own half, that is the highest portion this season.
That lead to most of the match being played in Arsenal’s half. In the end it turned out fine, Arsenal’s centerbacks cleaned up the hints of danger (still a bit too much sloppiness) and the attackers were able to turn the foray’s into the final third into shots and entice dumb challenges from Bounremouth.
By 60 minutes the match was over and Arsenal were able to cruise. It’s been a good weekend of results so far and this was no different.
