Headline: Arsenal just too much to handle
On paper this was one of Arsenal’s hardest remaining matches this season.
Brighton are a tough and talented team. They had lost just once at home. They have caused Arsenal problems in the past with the pressure that they can put you under.
Today, it was no problem.
If Arsenal had a bit better finishing, like we had seen in February this could have been another 5 or 6 goal scoreline. Instead, it ends a very comfortable 3-0, with the defense stepping up to keep a clean sheet.
Arsenal were knocking on the door early with a big set play chance for Gabriel and then a Saka shot as he cut in.
It took a stonewall penalty to see the scoring finally opened and from there it was all Arsenal.
Brighton were starting to knock on the door and apply pressure at the start of the second half but Arsneal got the pivotal second goal to put the game to bed adding a third from Trossard with a very cool finish.
This was pretty much the perfect result for Arsenal.
✔️ Three points
✔️ Clean sheet
✔️ Padded the goal difference (creating more daylight with Manchester City)
✔️ Got subs for key players ahead of the Champions League
✔️ Got to enjoy playing the final 25 minutes at a pretty low intensity
After not quite adding on as much as possible against Luton, getting the third goal here was huge and same with the defending to keep the clean sheet. I love this team and how they are playing right now.
