Film study: Evan Ferguson
Get to know Brighton's teenage striker sensation and potential Arsenal target
Think fast: Who’s the most desirable, young striker in the Premier League not already kicking balls for a major club?
This isn’t very difficult; the answer is Evan Ferguson. The 19-year-old Irish attacker recently ranked third in my striker player rankings for the season so far, and for good reason: He’s got five goals in 611 minutes in all competitions (7 starts) so far this season, a fast start after the 10 he scored last season, when he was just 18.
Ferguson has been at Brighton for the better part of three years now, but he’s not a true Brighton project: The club acquired him from Bohemians in Ireland as a 15-year-old, notably beating Liverpool to his signature.
Ferguson made his senior debut for Brighton late in the 2021-2022 season, coming on as a sub in an FA Cup match with West Brom. About a month later, he made his Premier League debut, and the rest is history.
His name is on the tip of every transfer aficionado’s tongue of late, but would he make sense for Arsenal? How much could he cost, and what would he bring to the side? Let’s dive in.
