Democracy is a beautiful thing. And just like in my home country, those good old United States of America, we had a roughly 10% voter turnout for my last piece, as the voters sent an overwhelming message to the powers that be - we want to know more about Hugo Ekitike.
As a man of the people, I was happy to delve into the tape to bring you the latest on the 22-year-old striker, who has been speculatively named among potential Arsenal options for summer striker targets and recently came third in my very own ranking of players leading the line for their respective clubs.
Ekitike was once a hot commodity as a teen in France, bagging 10 goals for a poor Stade Reims side before making a €28.5m move to PSG. He provided decent output in the nation’s capital, scoring three and assisting four goals in just under 13 90s, but failed to impress. The Parisians ultimately dumped him for about half their initial fee to Eintracht Frankfurt, who’ve pulled their usual crap. Ekitike since has 15 goals in about 26 90s since and while he may not be “for sale” this summer due to the January sale of strike partner Omar Marmoush, it’s been said the German club could listen to offers for €80m.
