Arsenal keep the winning going, that is now 9 wins in a row in all competitions. Here is the main takeaway, my positives, a few negatives, and all the match graphics from Arsenal’s match against Burnley.
This will be a bit of a quick one, I am going to go meet up with some people for in real life PL watching.
Main takeaway: Arsenal look comfortably the class of the PL
Burnley are a team that looks destined for a return to the Championship but they are still a Premier League team and as I keep saying, there are no “easy” matches in this league anymore.
Well today, Arsenal challenged that by making this look very easy.
The team came out strong in the first half and blew them away. That did it again through a well delivered set play and from there created a number of openings where on another day this turns into a romp where Arsenal score 3 or 4 in quick succession (like they did against Atletico).
In the end they had to settle for only scoring 2 in that first half and then they never really needed to get out of first gear as they saw the game out.
The big thing that I am taking away from this is that in a league that has a lot of talent, but almost every other team has flaws, this Arsenal team is standing out for its overall completeness. The business done to assemble this squad over the last few years has been simply phenomenal and it looks like a team that has all the profiles that you would want and need.
It may never happen, but I think it would be scary to see what this team could be if it ever gets fully healthy. It is already looking tough for all the other teams and that might just make it unfair.
