Would the youngest debutante in Ajax history work at Arsenal?
Summer transfer season is about to heat up, and some of last summer’s mistakes are getting heat in the transfer links.
Among those whose agents are allegedly taking meetings from top clubs left and right: Ryan Gravenberch, who made his Ajax debut at just 16, became one of the best players at the club and made a direct jump straight to Bayern Munich at the time.
The move was suspect then, with Gravenberch joining a midfield anchored by Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala. I said at the time that I thought he needed to go somewhere he’d get a lot of playing time. After all, he was just a 19-year-old and his top experience was at Ajax.
It’s only taken Gravenberch one season to see his error (he’s played 348 league minutes, less than 17-year-old Matthys Tel), and he’s reportedly looking for a way out. So should Arsenal make the move? Let’s jump in.
