There is nothing deserved in soccer but if there was... this was not a deserved win

Leeds 0-1 Arsenal: Instant Reaction
Share

I am not doing the instant reaction on Arsenal Vision this morning but I still feel like I need to get my quick thoughts out.

Headline: Arsenal escape

I think the running xG in this match tells a good story. The first half was pretty even, neither team really was able to take control of things. Arsenal had more of the ball but the possession in dangerous locations was essentially even.

In the second half it was a different story.

Leeds came out from the opening minute and pushed Arsenal back like no other team has done all season. I came away incredibly impressed with Leeds. Before this match, they were rated as the 10th best team based on this season’s results only and I think that is a pretty fair take on them. They looked like they had an extra man when pressing, while Arsenal looked like they had just come back from a game in the arctic circle.

This was the first real bad performance from Arsenal this season and they got away with it. Often times this one leads to dropped points but sometimes you get away with it. This one ended up a little too close to Conteball for my liking.

Stock rising: Aaron Ramsdale
