Mudryk, Edu, Boehly, and the art of saying "no"
Walking away hurts, but Arsenal did the right thing
The Mudryk saga has come to an unfortunate end. Todd Boehly, as he is wont to do, came in over the top with a €70m fixed fee and €30m in add-ons for the Ukrainian dynamo, with wages reportedly double what Arsenal were willing to pay.
It’s a blow to many Arsenal supporters, so many of whom had fallen in love with Mudryk’s blistering speed via YouTube clips and clapped along as Mudryk posted and posted to his Instagram, teasing a move away from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Buying Mudryk would have made a ton of sense for Arsenal, as I’ve covered before. But while the move would have been exciting and a lot of fun, the range out outcomes just contains too few that would make that level of investment worth it for Arsenal. Walking away, sadly, is the right move.
