It was one year ago that Cannon Stats was born.
I have been thrilled with how things have gone in that time and I wanted to do a quick look back at what we have done in this year.
If I could sum things up in one word it would be jaw-dropping (a little bit of cheating there).
I didn’t know what to expect when we made this change, I have been writing about Arsenal online now for a little over 6.5 years now and it has been a slow build to gain an audience. What ended up happening has gone better than I could have imagined.
When the site transitioned from Crab Stats there were 1,536 people who had signed up, we now sit just shy of 5,000 subscribers at 4,897 (hopefully hitting that milestone by the end of the year). That is growth of over 200% in a year and still growing strong.
For paid subscribers, the people who make all of this possible, that has grown from 133 very wonderful people to 472.
We are very appreciative of everyone who subscribes, but the people who have a premium membership really do a massive amount to make all of this possible. We aren’t getting rich doing this (I also believe being transparent is very important), and it takes a lot of time and effort to do the data collection, research, and writing for all of the posts.
So thank you for all that read, if you want to help support further you can always do so here.
Here is what that support has allowed us to do over the year.
290 - Posts, which is almost 6 posts a week on average!
110 - Premium posts, we strive to make as much fee as possible and your support has allowed over 62% to stay free and widely available.
29 - Total podcasts, becoming an almost very weekly show (except when schedules get in the way)
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who is here, who subscribes and reads. We appreciate all of this, and the support has been mind-blowing and we hope to do keep going and maybe even try and give you more content.
Thank you for a great first year, and for many more to come.
Congrats, I've really been enjoying my subscription. I've learned a lot about football data and analysis and your content pairs well with the more emotional/narrative stuff I find elsewhere.
Congrats on a year!
