Re-writing transfer history, fullbacks
Back for another edition, this time in a new position
Introduction? Who has time for that?
If you missed the first edition of this monster of a project, read the midfielders piece linked below. That’s got my rules of engagement, system, etc.
Similar to how I ran through midfielders, I’ve got multiple formulas for fullbacks, or “wide defenders.” One pulls guys who are better suited for a wingback style of role forward, while the other is more all-round. I’ll notate below as needed. (Editor’s note: I know that the guys in one category are not all playing wingback, but I’m using those titles to simplify my train of thought, because it sounds better than “fullbacks” vs “attacking fullbacks”. So please forgive me if the guy plays in a back four and I’m calling him out as a wingback - it just means he’s one of the top attack-minded wide defenders that season).
As long as you folks will have me, I’m going to go position-by-position on this thing. When will it end? Probably never.
Adam's formula re-writes transfer history
I can’t have been much older than 8 or 9 when my fascination with player movement really took off. I remember I used to take the time to meticulously write down and then implement every single trade, free agent signing, retirement and release in whatever MLB, NBA or NFL game I happened to be playing on my console of choice at the time — all before I played a single game, or started a career mode.
You’re not paying me by the word, though, so let’s jump right in, eh?
