I would have to actually spend some time on it but would guess yes, and just from a peek, it's gone from 0.68 npxG allowed per 90 last season to 0.8 this season. Still very good but a little worse and I'm sure more turnovers at the front contributes to that
Speaking to someone high up in a prem club recently, he said they have a stats company that’s trying to identify teams MVPs, but how much they add to that teams chance of winning.
Not just by xg, ppva, but by the result, as a way of identifying transfer targets possibly hidden by other metrics…
Have been kicking around ideas of this as well. Really tough because a lot of impact goes unmeasured by counting stats! And many measured stats simply don't matter as much as people think/don't mean what people think they mean.
Gosh it's nice to read something that makes sense.
"But, notably, less than 40% of league games this season have featured Arsenal’s top two creators playing together..."
This has been a really frustrating season. Really frustrating.
Is there also a correlation between Saka & Ode being out and the defensive performances?
Ie, does having better attackers on the pitch, by enhancing ball security & threat, also help your defence ???
