Stats Scouting: Ferdi Kadioglu
Starting to get familiar with Arsenal transfer link Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce
It is silly season for player movement and normally I try and wait until the rumors are a bit more substantial before digging into things but I am starving for some news (I think many are as a way to try and forget about West Ham/Fulham/Liverpool/Finishing) so that led me to look into a rumor that has raised my eyebrows.
This time it is the versatile left-back Ferdi Kadioglu who currently plays in the the Super Lig for Fenerbahce.
There are reports that Arsenal have sent representatives to watch and make contact with representatives from Fenerbahce but they aren’t from the most plugged-in Arsenal related sources so it might be only exploratory and part of the normal business of keeping tabs on players around the World.
I will be completely upfront, in that I have not watched a single minute of the Super Lig this season. With Fenerbahce not in the Champions League I don’t think I have watched a single minute of them either. So I am coming in with basically zero knowledge here and I am not going to draw any hard conclusions from this data but I am still interested in what the numbers say about him. If the links get more real, then I will dedicate the time to watch some video but I am too skeptical of this move right now to consider it.
Let’s get into it and see what the data shows us, starting with the overall stats dashboard.
That is a very good-looking profile and I can look at this and understand why there might be interest in the player. The Türkish Super Lig is not the strongest League in the World, according to the Opta rating it has a couple of really good teams a few top 200 teams, and then a bunch of bad teams. That should put huge caveats on this analysis, especially because he plays for a team that has a huge talent advantage in the matches they play but it is at least a positive sign to see a player linked with a move to a stronger league performing at a very high level.
None of this is adjusted for the strength of the League or teams played, so it would probably not be wise to expect that should he move and repeat at this same level in the Premier League. But hey, at least he looks very good unlike say Mudryk when I did a similar exercise of him this time last year and he looked just good in a League that was much worse.
The other thing that I think is a mark in his favor, is that he is not just a left back but has played on the left and the right giving the potential for depth at multiple positions (and hinting at how he might do if he were to invert).
Let’s jump into the more detailed sections
Detailed Stats
For players linked with Arsenal, I pretty much always like to start with the passing metrics. If they don’t look good here I start wondering about the fit (or just dismiss them entirely) because Mikel Arteta has a “type” of player that he has been drawn to as he built the level of the club up.
