1) This was fantastic... much preferred over having to read these with a bunch of crappy takes from others on the X site.
2) "I’m extremely frustrated at the state of football fan discourse in general." - I am a new fan to the game... I have been shocked by this online discourse. It's really weird and very emotionally swingy, and doesnt seem to be rooted in reality. Makes me think back to the All or Nothing video where people were very strongly "Arteta Out"... not even willing to consider it may take time. Then, by the end of the video people are in love with Arteta. How can someone prove they deserve to be there if you want them out after a couple bad results? We aren't Chelsea or Man U. We haven't lost this season, have been plagued with injuries (with multiple in the same position), and still have a relatively young squad who have had amazing bouts of brilliance. Yes, we want the team to do better, but the extreme responses are just silly. (And then, because sports discourse has borrowed from political discourse, if you don't subscribe to the most extreme position, then you're accused of nothing wanting Arsenal to be the best.) /rant
Amen. That’s mostly what finally drove me off the app yesterday, I’m tired of everything being so exaggerated. Fans relentlessly push for a club to mimic another that’s just miles ahead of everyone else, and are completely outraged when it doesn’t happen. It’s too much. Havertz, Vieira, Nketiah, it’s all very dramatic and everyone just blows more hot air back in each other’s faces. I’m happier here and on the podcast for now!
