No sugar coating this one, let's get straight into it.
Headline: Deja Vu All Over Again
It happened again.
Last weekend’s draw after going up two goals was a bummer but in the end it felt like a hard-earned point, this weekend it feels the exact opposite. You can go to Anfield and be content with a point (even if you probably should have gotten more) but at West Ham?
That is just unacceptable for a team that is challenging for the title.
Looking at the win probability chart for this match, from 2-0 up at 10 minutes Arsenal should have gone on and won 86% of the time. This doesn’t even factor in that Arsenal were a pretty strong favorite here to start going with a neutral initial expectation.
For the rest of the first half Arsenal played like the game was already won, like they were believing the stats a bit too much, expecting West Ham to just capitulate and rollover.
In the first 10 minutes the shot count was 2-2 but Arsenal created and scored some massive chances to go ahead.
From there the second half was not good.
I don’t love that Arsenal just flat-lined from there on out. That is not the team that I have watched most of the year.
