Think Toney just represents an upgrade to Eddie (a very “lead the line” forward who will pounce in the box). Yet I feel we are far more dangerous with Jesus and the way he’s all over the place with lots of deeper touches and seems to ignite martinelli. He adds the chaos factor. As such I’m less keen on toney and we are seeking an upgrade to the front position then it’s not a Toney style one? FWIW Eddie is a perfectly acceptable squad player. He can play odd games and also come on to bolster attack with that direct forward role if we are chasing a game. Is Watkins a better bet? (I have been advocating that approach for a while and, at least pre the weekend hat trick, felt could be had cheeper than Toney)
