That makes me think if FIFA will ever at some point in the future to try manage increasing minutes and loads bring in rules to stop a match earlier once such threshold are reached. Or maybe teams could try this out and maximise the # of subs allowed once similar thresholds are set maybe with their one team specific data thresholds or even specific match thresholds.
I do not think we will ever see games called early but what would a lot of sense at the very least would be eliminating injury time if there is a 3+ goal difference between the teams.
I always think it is idiotic when a team is 4-0 up for example and another 5 mins of added time are shown by the 4th official. The losing team is not going to come back in that time, so why bother making them play on for another few minutes when the outcome is already certain?
