Ahh...my two favorite club teams. Was a Dubs season ticket holder till they moved across the Bay (wife threatened divorce but realistically could not afford the 40+% increase...from what I hear about season tix for Premier League teams those fans would sh*t their pants if they realized how expensive the tickets are here) and been following Arsenal since 1999. Shout out to any local Gooners who will be at Oakland Athletic Club on Sunday for the Villa kickoff at 8:30am!!

Lacob is haughty and has high expectations...so do the Kroenke clan...biggest difference that the article already covers is that the Kroenke's do not seek the spotlight (Joe sits courtside and often Steph can high-five him during the game).

Without straining, I can see how Draymond and Gabriel are the emotional centers for the squads, though Gabriel has thankfully chilled a bit over time and unfortunately Draymond can take that emotion to a dark place. I would imagine most Gooners not in the Bay Area know that Steph Curry is now considered the best shooter in NBA history, but they may not realize how amazing a culture guy he is...how much he encourages and challenges the younger players. So I also see a bit of him (he is age 37 and Arsenal players are waaaaay younger) in Odegaard and Saka. Arteta is way more emotional than Kerr, but both are former role (squad is a better word for soccer/football) players during their playing days and understand how critical it is to have everyone playing for the shirt.

I cannot see an Arsenal player who comes close to the joyful goofiness (while also being perhaps the second best all time shooter) that is Klay Thompson...but maybe someone in London who hears more interviews, etc with the team has a better view.

As much as Lacob does not agree, this is the end of the Dubs era. Having 4 championships is something any Gooner would likely take without a second thought as they imagine the possible successes in the next decade...so I am excited to see how close to the Dubs level of recent success this current batch of Arsenal players can achieve!!

Light years ahead of every other team. Nice piece. Wonder if you’d revisit in the future if silverware is put in the cabinet. I also think the styles of team play are similar. Lot of ball movement and player movement to create space. An elite defense.
