It also allows Timber to play at LB as a different defensive look with Konsa or White at RB. Arteta seemingly liked that look in the past although that was before Hincaipe’s arrival. 4 LBs who are very different and suddenly on the right side we won’t see a game but undercooked Mosquera or an unfit Timber playing against PSG in a CL final. If Arteta looks back at the CL final he must wonder how he ended up with the patchwork lineup that almost won.

I was never a big fan of Timber on the left - thought he looked awkward/lost - but no doubt it's another great option if the goal is four strong defenders. Of course the alternative isn't Tomiyasu/Zinchenko/Kiwior like it was back then lol

I also wonder if Caliafori might start to line up at different positions on team sheets and not just while he is playing. Different players at LB with the increased depth and Cali identifies as a left wing. The last minutes at Anfield might be a preview—and it “might” explain why we did not get another left wing attacker in the off season if Arteta saw Cali spending some time there? This might all be wrong but Konsa at RB makes that an easier available solution because we would have the depth at LB to move Cali around. Lots of players who can play different positions seems to be Arteta’s goal.

Play a back 3 And allow the normal lb and rb to man mark certain attackers and roam all over. Break the structure expectations of the opposition.

I'm not a proponent of taking off an attacking player in favor of an additional CB, if I'm being honest
